Kelly makes Fresno St. squad as walk-on

LANCASTER, CA – Paraclete Head Coach Norm Dahlia announced today that former Spirits running back Jerry Kelly has made the Fresno State Bulldogs football team as a walk-on player.

The Bulldogs coaching staff  notified Kelly of their decision today following the team’s tryout sessions.

Kelly spent the last year at Fresno State, where he focused on academics and adjusting to college life.  Prior to last season, Kelly helped Paraclete finish the year with a 12-1 record.  He led the Spirits in rushing with 1421 yards and 16 touchdowns on 157 carries. He also had 139 yards and two touchdowns on 10 receptions.

2009 Paraclete Football Schedule – Spring and Summer

Starting Feb. 24 and 26:

We will be going out on the field after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays with anyone interested that is not involved in another sport on campus.


SPRING FOOTBALL:

  • Our spring session starts on Monday, May 11th.
  • We will go until Tuesday, May 26th – this also includes a session on Saturday, May 16th.
  • Practices begin right after school.

SUMMER FOOTBALL:

  • Our summer session Starts Monday, June 8th.
  • We will go until Saturday, June 27th.
  • Practices with go from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
  • Varsity will compete in the “Under the Lights” Passing  Tournament  on Jun. 26 – Jun. 27 (near Saugus High School -times to be announced at a later date)
  • JV will also compete in this tourney on Saturday, June 27th -times to be announced at a later date.

***Freshman can “ONLY” start summer football when they have graduated from the 8th grade and have their “PHYSICAL PAPER WORK” is on file at Paraclete.***


***3 WEEK DEAD PERIOD***

  • The dead period starts on Monday, Jun. 29
  • The dead period ends on Sunday, Jul. 19
  • This is a great time to schedule “VACATIONS”.

I realize this is a little different dead period for us but this is where we are taking it this year.

SUMMER FOOTBALL PART 2:

  • Our session resumes on Monday, Jul. 20.
  • We will go until the 2009-10 school year begins.

CAMP WEEK:

  • VARSITY camp week will start Wednesday, July 29th  and end on Saturday, August 1st.
  • SPIRIT DAY’S (fund-raiser) will be Saturday August 1st.
  • ***Camp week schedule will be set at a later date***

WORKOUT SCHEDULE FOR INCOMING FRESHMAN CLASS:

Only workout in a weight room if you have been taught the proper lifting techniques or you are under the supervision of a qualified trainer. This is to avoid injury.

NO WEIGHT WORK OUT:

4 sets of 25 push-ups once a day
4 sets of 25 “DIAMOND” push-ups once a day
(Diamond push-up is when you put your hands flat under your chest, touching your thumbs and index fingers forming a diamond)

4 sets of 25 sit-ups once a day
4 sets of 25 sit-ups right elbow to left knee- then left elbow to right knee alternating elbow to knee each time you go up, once a day.

RUNNING WORKOUT:

Monday-Wednesday-Friday:

10- 10 yard dashes
10- 20 yard dashes
10- 30 yard dashes
10- 40 yard dashes

Tuesday and Thursday:

1 mile a day, 2 days a week increasing to 3 miles a day, 2 days a week

*** When you get to Paraclete we will teach you proper weight lifting techniques and have you on a daily running schedule***

You must have your PHYSICAL forms completed and returned to the office at Paraclete in order for you to participate in football after 8th grade graduation.

You may pick up the physical forms from the Paraclete administration office after May 1st 2009. Paraclete will have physicals given on campus during the second week of June by AIM. Cost is $20.00 or $25.00 (cash only).
